The Furniture Bank Veteran Program

Bruce and Thurston_2In partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta, the Furniture Bank trains and prepares previously-homeless Veterans for careers in the warehouse or truck driving industry.

Since February of 2014, interns have worked at the Furniture Bank for an eight-week period, receiving a small stipend and transportation assistance. After four weeks, interns choose between a Truck Driving or Warehouse track. Truck driver interns receive a scholarship to CDL-A training school, preparing them for a career in truck driving. Warehouse interns obtain their forklift certification and are connected to warehouse job openings.

To date, 40 previously homeless veterans have been trained and connected to full time employment.
