2016 “Race for Rest” Bed Race FAQ’s

Where is the 2016 Race for Rest?

The Bed Race will start and finish at Atlantic Station’s Central Park. Registration for the race will be in the park itself with signage directing participants to start/finish lines. NOTE: first two hours of parking in Atlantic Station’s parking deck are FREE.

What time does the Bed Race start?

Bed decorating begins at 8:30

Bed Race Warm Up/Parade starts immediately following the 5K awards – approximately 9:10am

What time do I arrive on race day for the Bed Race?

Short answer: no later than 8am.

Slightly longer answer: Registration opens at 7am. Bed decorating begins at 8:30am and must be completed by 9am. Please allow yourself time to locate your team and pick up race packets if you did not do so at packet pick up. The parade of beds will begin at 9:10am and racing will ensue immediately following.

Where do the race proceeds go?

All proceeds go to the Furniture Bank in support of our vision for all individuals and families to have the furniture necessary to create a safe and secure environment that contributes to health and well-being.

What are the registration fees?

$250 for a team of 5

What are the Bed Race Rules – how does it work?

Timed Heats

The first round of racing will consist of timed heats to “seed” teams.

The remainder of the racing will take place bracket-style (think NCAA Final Four)

During the untimed heats, it is the first part of the BED that crosses the line that will establish the winner.

*Each team will have the opportunity to race at least twice

How do I register for the Bed Race?

Please email Megan Anderson (manderson@furniturebankatlanta.org) by September 5 to register for the Bed Race.

What is the policy on refunds of registration fees?

There will be no refunds of registration fees. The race will go on rain or shine; however, in the case of extreme inclement weather (lightning, tornados, etc.,) the Race for Rest will be canceled and rescheduled – if in doubt, please refer to our website (www.furniturebankatlanta.org).

When can we pick up our race packets and our t-shirts?

Packet pick up will take place at Big Peach Midtown on Friday, September 16 from 4 until 8pm

Where should I park?

There is ample parking in the Atlantic Station parking decks and the first two hours are FREE. Park in section 2, 3, 6, or 7 (red and purple zones) to enter ground level near the park.

Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?

Yes, but you will need to sign a waiver if you have not done so in person or online.

Where can I see race results?

We will post race results on our website (www.furniturebankatlanta.org/events/race4rest) by end of day Monday, September 19.
